When I got to his house, the blind was hanging on busted brackets by string tied in knots. It must of have been 20 years old. His wife, who passed away a year earlier, had purchased all new stainless steel appliances and had asked him to finish remodeling the home just before she died. I told him his orange mini blind was pretty much done and that I could get him a new mini blind to match the appliances for $50. He was very grateful and told me of some unscrupulous contractors who had tried to take advantage of him. He then proceeded to tell me of his encounters with the ghost of JFK which went on for a half an hour . Yes, this was around Halloween and it was a little freaky. His wife and John F.Kennedy were waiting for him on the other side . Okaay. He has other blinds and will be calling me back. At least I'll be prepared this time.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://jcblinds.blogspot.com/2007/11/small-job-big-improvment-plus-jfk.html' title='Small Job, Big Improvment. It was from Mike, a veteran in the field who has been involved in this area since the seventies.I said sure why not. Wow! Twenty one feet wide and twelve feet high. What an awakening to what heavy duty is all about in the drapery field. The funny thing is three days later I get a call from a customer asking if I was into stage curtains. So down to the clubhouse I went with my speed dial set up to call Mike. As it turns out they wanted them cleaned and received a bid of $2000.00. The have 3 sets of curtains. After talking to my new drapery mentor, it looks like my cost is going to hover around $3000.00. Mike offered to come look at the job on Tuesday and give me a better idea on what I should charge for this job. This should be interesting.

Vertical Blinds and Antivirus Software

I received a call to give a quote on some vertical blinds in Coronado. The office wasn't that large. They ended up ordering two vertical blinds floor to ceiling in two offices. I noticed on the wall the name of their company and what they did. This was the office for Eset an antivirus software company. They are also know as Nod32. I was tired of Norton and all the problems it was causing with my computer so I did some research. I found this out: "Nod32 is the only antivirus program in the world which has not missed a single "In The Wild" virus in more than seven years in independent tests conducted by the prestigious antivirus industry trade journal,Virus Bulletin." Wow! anything that claims to be the best in the world gets my attention. They bought blinds from me, so I bought an antivirus program from them. It's been a couple of years and I haven't had any bugs what so ever. Goodbye Norton;Mcafee who? Give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.

Magnetic Blinds

It seems there has been a lot of interest in magnetic mini blinds lately. After doing some research, I found out that these are only available in 2 sizes 25 x 40 and 25 x 68 and the only color available is white. So, I have decided to track down some heavy duty magnets and offer a custom made mini blind in any color and any size. Some restrictions will have to be applied due to weight. I might add that the length of these blinds can always been shortened but removing the bottom plugs, cutting the knot off, removing the excess ladders and reassembling. Sounds confusing?. I will post detailed instructions shortly or you can always email me at john@jcblinds.com
